Terms of service
These terms cover the Haunch website at haunch.ai, the Haunch text-message program, and forwarding scams to Haunch. By using any of them you agree to these terms. Pilot customers sign a separate agreement that takes precedence where the two differ.
1. What Haunch is
Haunch runs AI decoy personas that engage people who attempt scams, collect the payment details and other identifiers those people reveal, and pass them to organizations that can block them. Haunch provides information to help those organizations and the public. It is not a law-enforcement agency, a bank, or a legal adviser, and it does not guarantee that any scam will be stopped or any money recovered.
2. The text-message program
Program name: Haunch.
What you get: when you forward a scam text to a Haunch number, you receive a confirmation, a request for the sender's number if it's missing, and updates about that case.
Frequency: varies by case; typically a few messages per forwarded scam.
Cost: message and data rates may apply, charged by your carrier.
Opt out: reply STOP to any message to stop. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected].
Privacy: see our privacy policy. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
3. Forwarding scams to Haunch
By forwarding a message, you confirm that you received it, that you believe it is a scam, and that you have the right to share it. Don't forward messages from people you know aren't scammers, and don't use Haunch to harass anyone. If a decoy finds that a number belongs to someone who isn't running a scam, it stops contact and the number is never contacted again.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Haunch to break any law, to target a specific person for harassment, to send us content you don't have the right to share, to probe or disrupt our systems, or to impersonate Haunch. We may suspend access for misuse.
5. Leads and evidence
Information Haunch collects from scammers is a lead, not a finding of fact. Accounts and numbers that appear in scams can belong to victims or be spoofed. Organizations that receive leads from Haunch are responsible for verifying them and for any action they take. Haunch's evidence records are tamper-evident, meaning changes after the fact are detectable; they are not a substitute for an organization's own records or a court's determination.
6. Content and intellectual property
The Haunch website, name and designs belong to Haunch. Where Haunch publishes source code under an open-source license, that license governs the code. Anonymized conversation excerpts we publish may be quoted with attribution to Haunch.
7. No warranties
Haunch is provided as is. We make no promises that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular result will follow from a forwarded scam or a lead.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Haunch is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses caused by scams, by actions third parties take on leads, or by your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred US dollars or the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, whichever is greater.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Questions: [email protected].
